The Formula 1 drivers are a busy bunch, and their off-season activities are just as exciting as the races themselves. From the Goodwood Festival of Speed to Wimbledon and the Tour de France, these athletes are always on the move. Before the 2026 Belgian Grand Prix, let's take a look at what they've been up to.
Goodwood Festival of Speed
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is a highlight for many F1 drivers, and this year's event was no exception. Lando Norris, the Briton, had a whirlwind weekend, debuting McLaren's hypercar and even drifting in an LB-Super Silhouette NISSAN 180SX.
Norris' highlight was undoubtedly meeting his childhood hero, Valentino Rossi, and celebrating his 2025 title with Sir Jackie Stewart and McLaren Team Principal Andrea Stella. The McLaren team also ran their 1994 challenger for the first time, with Senna's nephew, Bruno Senna, showing it off to the crowd.
Kimi Antonelli made his Goodwood debut, driving the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed up the hillclimb, looking as relaxed as he does in his F1 car. Adrian Newey, the Red Bull Team Principal, also took his latest creation, the Red Bull RB17 hypercar, for a test run, with his son, Harrison, and other drivers getting behind the wheel.
Williams' Damon Hill restored his title-winning FW18 for an extra-special run, and Aston Martin showed off their AMR25 and other Honda showstoppers with Jessica Hawkins and Jak Crawford. Alpine sent Pierre Gasly, Franco Colapinto, Paul Aron, Nina Gademan, and Alex Dunne in the Lotus E20 with an Alpine livery, along with the first showing of the all-electric sports car Alpine A110 FUTURE.
Wimbledon
Wimbledon is a favorite pastime for drivers, and this year, Jannik Sinner, the Italian tennis star, made an appearance. He powered his way to the final, defeating Alexander Zverev in four sets to successfully defend his Wimbledon crown. It was his fifth Grand Slam title, and an important one after an early exit in the French Open.
Esteban Ocon and Sergio Perez dressed up for Centre Court, and championship leader Antonelli met Sinner, who suggested they took part in some karting. George Russell and Gasly also returned to Southwest London for the Championships, making a dapper appearance at SW19.
Madring Circuit
The hype is building for September's Spanish Grand Prix around the brand-new Madring circuit. Ferrari had the honor of posting the first laps around the track in an F1 car, with Carlos Sainz testing it out in a Ford Mustang. Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton took turns sending the SF-26 around the 22-turn track, with the Monegasque even driving the filming car.
Tour de France
The Tour de France is already at stage 10, with almost 200 riders taking on the daunting race in the sweltering European heat. Tadej Pogacar, a four-time champion and friend of Ollie Bearman and Sainz, leads the way, looking to make history and become the fifth man to win five Tour de France crowns.
Valtteri Bottas, the Cadillac man, was back in the saddle to enjoy some epic rides in Aspen, Colorado, with his partner Tiffany Cromwell, featuring some breathtaking views of the Rocky Mountains.
These off-season activities showcase the diverse interests of Formula 1 drivers, and it's clear that they are always on the move, even when they're not racing.
